In 2001, McMaster University’s Department of Family Medicine created OSCAR, a low cost, open source, browser based, and extremely versatile EMR. OSCAR, or as we call it, OSCAR Classic, stands for Open Source Clinical Application and Resource and is used by thousands of medical professionals across the country.
OSCAR was first developed on a foundation of collaboration to create an EMR that focused on better experiences for clinicians, provided better care for patients, and drove positive health outcomes. Throughout its history, OSCAR has grown and been shaped by its passionate community of clinicians, developers, and academics who have tirelessly worked to improve it.
That same passionate online community continues to improve the EMR experience for everyone. We are proud to be part of the OSCAR community, and we commit to working with it, continuing in the tradition of collaboration.
